What is the Quality of Life Program?
In 2007, the Government Relations Committee of the Québec Federation of Real Estate Boards formally incorporated the principles of the Quality of Life Program into its process for developing its various projects with government authorities. The goal of the Federation's Quality of Life Program is to demonstrate the real estate industry's commitment to improving the quality of life of communities across the province.
Originally created by the Washington Association of Realtors, the principles of the Quality of Life Program have been promoted throughout Canada by the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver. Several provincial associations and Canadian real estate boards have also adopted these principles, such as the British Columbia Real Estate Association, the Manitoba Real Estate Association and The Canadian Real Estate Association.
The Quality of Life Program is based on five main principles that shape the political and public directions that a real estate organization should develop.
These principles, adapted for Québec, are:
- Ensuring continuous economic development
- Providing opportunities for suitable housing
- Preserving our environment
- Improving living conditions of Québec residents
- Building better communities
